Testimonials

I worked with MacGuffin and John Rea for over 8 years and it really became a part of my life. At MacGuffin, acting is a fun thing to do, but it is also a craft that we learn how to perfect and master. The classes focus on any aspects of acting, such as the auditioning process and finding work. I feel like I belong to a family outside my home when I'm with people at MacGuffin."

Shana Knizhnik, alumnus

MacGuffin has given our son Stephen so many great acting opportunities to explore his passion for theater. The best part is that he's done Shakespeare, musicals and Monty Python comedy, with kids from all different backgrounds and ages. The group is accepting, intimate and nurturing. Also, practical: the tips he got about auditioning and performing helped him get his first professional role."

M acGuffin is a place where I have grown as an actress more than any other school. It taught me to take risks in my acting, be comfortable in my own skin and stay focused on my goals."

(co-star of Spanglish with Adam Sandler)

MacGuffin is a place that I know I won't be judged. I can be myself and not be scared at what people might think. I have learned so much from
the staff."

MacGuffin has become a place where I can not only learn and grow stronger as an actor but learn and grow stronger as a person surrounded by the best actors and people I have ever met."

Thank goodness my mom "forced" me into this acting camp back in the summer of 1991. I was a naturally introverted kid, simultaneously going through my parents' divorce and getting acclimated to a new place to live. I remember looking forward to the class and the games we'd play everyday ranging from improvisation, to making masks, to trust

games. I felt so encouraged by the supportive things I heard from my classmates and from John, that I pursued acting through high school with a fantastic sense of self-esteem.  Although the class awakened a new-found interest in acting and thus in becoming other characters, the main benefit I found was actually a greater sense of self."

--Erin Wyher, alumus

I have been to many summer camps and MacGuffin is my favorite. My acting improved and my voice strengthened. I even enjoyed doing vocal warm-ups, crunches, and enunciation exercises. It was fun hanging out in Center City, Philadelphia. People were friendly. On my first day when we were about to start stretching, a person came over to me, shook my hand, and introduced herself. Then I was walking to lunch with a few people and a different person started talking to me about auditioning."

My experience with John Rea and Sarah Bonner has been fundamental for my future in acting, whether it be recreational or professional."

MTF

has really helped me open up and embrace new and different experiences. John Rea forces you to break out of your shell and really let go, which really improves your acting."

-Nina Starner, 17

MTF's welcoming atmosphere and people have helped me to feel at ease and more expressive on stage."

- Tyler Wood, 14

Not only does John teach and help us in things like acting, singing and dancing, but he also teaches us lessons that help us in the present and for the future.

Even though it's scary at first, working with someone who knows your potential might be one of the most beneficial assets for one's future career.
